Don't know the date of this one, maybe some of you do, and maybe some of you are in this photo. I only recognize 3 or 4 of the players. This should be early 60s.This appears to be on a field other than at BHS. Probably Latimer Park Field.

This is the fall of '62 team because several members of the Class of '63 are prominent in the photo.
ReplyDeleteThe picture was made at Latimer Park on the north end looking north. The fence that graced the old Hortense Latimer home can be seen in the backgound.
Front row, l to r: James "Root" Downs, Kenneth "Pee Wee" Lauderdale, Jerry McGee, Robert Coggins, Milton "Bosie" Wesson, and Tully Lindley. 2nd row: Larry Williams, Joe Agnew, Steve McGee, Joey Burns (maybe Barnes), Danny Mink, Joe Allen, Wayne Sprinkle, and Coach Ned Holder. Back row: mgr Harry Strickland, George England, Chip Ford, Fred Enis, Percy Shelton, Larry Little, Coleman Evans, Larry McKay, Jimmy "J J" Joyner, Johnny Roberts, Junior Christian, Kenny Gentry, and mgr Wayne Underwood.
Great picture! I wish we had this for the new book Y'all vs. Us set to be released Friday, August 15th through the Baldwyn booster club. One of the chapters in the book details the rivalry between Baldwyn and Booneville. You can learn more about the book and how it bennefits the Bearcat booster club at www.yallvsus.com.
ReplyDeleteGo Bearcats!
If it's not too late, copy and use the photo from this site.

One member of this team that is conspicuously absent is Kenneth Chism. He was probably in the field working with his family. His father would not have let him miss a practice but a photo session would have been trivial to him.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the fingers of Milton Wesson and Tully Lindsey... What's up with that ???? Front row bottom right.
ReplyDeleteThey're just saying that they're Number One!
ReplyDeleteNope, those young men were not indicating that the team was number 1.....
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the top of the picture, I quickly looked to see if the fingers were in the picture...hoping they were not..
ReplyDeleteI can revise the photo, should have done it before.
ReplyDeleteI have looked in my year book and the fingers were cut off..
ReplyDeleteGood job........I see the fingers have been shortened. I just heard from "brains" of the group and was advised that all the boys on the front were to have their middle finger displayed, and most backed out.
ReplyDeleteI was in the 1963 football picture most of us chickend out on the middle finger gester.
