The 1956 BHS Graduates

Note: This is the 1955 class.

This has been requested by some folks that didn't have a copy or lost theirs. We have some other photos (just a few) of the 1950s-1960s grads and will post them as soon as possible.

Jo Carolyn, this is the group that you would have finished BHS with. You had to run off elsewhere, though.

  1. John, is that the vivacious Maxine Lomenick standing to your left? What a ball player she was. I think she was the high scorer of most basketball games.
Wonder where she lived after school?

  2. Awwwwwww! There they are. Thanks so much. I identified 14 right away, 2 more after some study. I need hints for the others. There are a couple that I know graduated, but I can't figure out which ones they are.
Joan Duncan and Pat Dobbs were two more good basketball players.

  3. Yeah, I ran off to IL the summer after our freshman year. My class there graduated 160. They "chopped" off my name and I became just plain "Jo."
I've often wondered if I had stayed in Baldwyn how my life would have been different. Who would I have married? Where would I have gone to college? Would I have even gone to college? Oh, for a time machine.

  4. From what I hear, you would have had to draw straws for a husband, using the straws from an entire broom at one time!

We all wish for a time machine like the one Doc Wonmug brought Alley Oop to the future in and sent him back and forth in that comic strip.

  6. My apologies, I misunderstood the year when told, or something got cross-threaded.

However, all the photos on this blog are copyable. That's the reason we put them here. Copy them to your computer, and print out or put on your jumpdrive and take to WalMart or Walgreens photo center for a more durable copy.

  7. I just downloaded and printed me a copy on my laser printer. Thanks so much! Kiss, Kiss to John and whomever made this possible!

  8. Hey, you're right! It is the class of '55. I was so interested in looking at the picture, I didn't notice the year.

    That many straws, huh?

  9. Carl, exactly what does "cross-threaded" in your comment mean?

  10. Cross-threaded...That is a mechanical term I have heard and used all my life. It denotes that when a nut is started on a threaded bolt incorrectly, it strips the threads, which is a bad mistake.
When John gave me the photo, I didn't know the year of the graduating class. I asked him last Thursday if it was '56 and I thought he said yes. With that incorrect info, I posted it with incorrect information.
My mistake, I'm sure. I cross-threaded that bolt...

  11. To answer Jerry P, the last I heard of Maxine she was working as a realtor in Memphis, a long career doing that. I don't think she ever gets back to Baldwyn for reunions. She was one of the best although Jane Arnold got an award for most points in a game for BHS.
