What a great piece of memorabilia! Was Harold Merley on the high school team while in the seventh grade or is that a type-o?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I know where Hickory and Pine Grove schools were. Any one know?
ReplyDeleteBob B,
ReplyDeleteHickory is located west of Meridian Mississippi on Highway 80in Newton County.
Pine Grove is located in Tippah County Southeast of Ripley and Northeast of Dumas, Mississippi.
On the Guntown team, Paul Price and Myrl (I think that is incorrect spelling) Carlock was the biggest and tallest players I ever encountered. Those height stats may be incorrect, too. I guarded Paul in several games and he was a very tall man to play against.
ReplyDeleteJane Arnold is all time single game scoring champ with 60 pts, I believe. Johnny Massengill is all time single game boys champ.
ReplyDeleteI notice that my brother-in-law Andrew Bishop is a senior on the Guntown team. He is the only one of six brothers still living. Andrew received his degree in engineering from Mississippi State and spent his entire career at Delta Chemical in Memphis. What were the check marks for Jo Carolyn?
ReplyDeleteProbably boys I thought were cute. I knew all the boys on the Baldwyn and Wheeler teams so they didn't count.
