Header Photo Player ID
This post is for comments on the header photo. Looks to me like David Gentry to the right of the Center and Doug White to the left of the Center (looking at the photo). The car appears to be a 50s Plymouth or other sedan.
Is Phil the QB? That wouldn't be the correct team makeup, but OK for a photo opportunity???

I think this picture is earlier than David,,if this was so that would be Stanley Hendrix as QB..Me at right half back..Melvin as the other back and I can't remember who was the full back when we all played..

After "blowing it up" quite a bit, I'll bet you a nickel that is Phil Gorden at quarterback.
ReplyDeleteI'm not even sure but I do think it's David. But being younger sister, I won't swear to anything.
ReplyDeleteHere is how I remember the picture..starting in the line from the left as looking at it..Bill Weatherford, Mose Garret, Billy Dillard, me , because Jim Agnew missed practice,Bobby Herring Charles Cooper, Bobby Tom Outlaw..backs are Phil Gorden, QB, then on left Luther Mcmillan, BillY Frost, and Jack Christian.
ReplyDeleteThis could have been a real good team..It was Coach Haynes first year and for some reason it never jelled. Billy Dillard, Mose, Charles Frey, and Jack Christian were good players for a small town..
Larry Johnson
Larry is correct, this photo is earlier than "55" which was my first year and we were coached by Jimmy Jobe
ReplyDeleteM Duke
I think this was the year that Jack Christian broke his leg which would have hurt the team.
ReplyDeleteMaryann Gentry, good to hear from you. How are you, where are you? I have been wondering about you. Glad you found the blog.
ReplyDeleteCarl
Mert Phillips should have been on that team as well. Maybe he was out that day.
ReplyDeleteHi Carl & all, I'm doing good. I'm in Tacoma, WA. and Dave sent me the blog. I was reading comments and was that M.Duke, Melvin Duke? If so, Hello. Great memories just seeing the names of people I grew up with. Thanks Mary
